Carr Center Call for Exhibition Proposals 2024-2025

Thank you for your interest in submitting a proposal to exhibit at the Carr Center 2024-2025. Artists and curators alike are welcome to submit for the opportunity to share their work with Detroit, in the middle of Midtown's Cultural Arts District. We are located at 15 E. Kirby St. Detroit, MI 48202 in the Park Shelton. Proposals will be addressed on a first come first serve basis contingent upon the exhibition schedule at the Carr Center Contemporary.
The Carr Center leverages the essence of the African American cultural experience to inspire, entertain, challenge, and educate. It is a place where all artists, across disciplines, and community come together. The Carr Center is devoted to the preservation, presentation, promotion and development of the African and African American cultural arts traditions within our multicultural community.

Indication of number of people in exhibition (ex: one person, two people, 3 or more people)
Files of work proposed and estimated total (quantity) of works proposed.
Submission fee of $20
Applicants are encouraged to thoroughly review the submission requests and questions prior to processing their submission in order to have all materials prepared. Applicants are welcome to submit as many proposals as they like, however, each proposal requires the submission fee to be paid upfront. The submission fee is non-refundable, and payment must be received to consider your application as complete. Please be advised, artists are responsible for delivery fees and retrieval of their work to be considered. At this time, the Carr Center does not provide shipping services to artists. Submissions will be reviewed, and applicants will be notified of receipt of proposal, and will receive a follow up email from Gallery Director and Curator, Tia Nichols, at tia@thecarrcenter.org or exhibitions@thecarrcenter.org
